/think shifts Claude Code out of operational mode and into a dedicated thinking partner. Instead of referencing business metrics or KPIs, it focuses entirely on your ideas, past reflections, and the patterns forming across your vault.

Usage

Type /think in Claude Code to enter deep thinking mode.

Pre-think check

Before starting a session, /think automatically checks whether any books in your vault have unaudited knowledge. If it finds entries flagged as unaudited, it warns you:
⚠️ Un-audited knowledge: [book] ([flag]). Run /audit to verify, or /audit true to trust.
Run /audit to resolve flagged books before diving into a thinking session — unaudited knowledge can skew the connections Claude surfaces.

What changes in thinking mode

Once active, Claude Code acknowledges the switch and immediately adjusts its behavior:
  • Focus shifts to thinking/, daily/ (reflections sections), and context/about-me.md
  • Business framing is minimized — operational context, metrics, and KPIs stay in the background unless you bring them up
  • Claude asks probing questions — expect “why” and “what if” prompts rather than answers
  • Contradictions get surfaced — if your thinking conflicts with itself, Claude will name it
  • New angles get suggested — ideas and framings you haven’t considered are actively introduced
  • Past reflections are referenced — Claude connects your current thinking to patterns it has seen across your vault
  • Output goes to thinking/agent-output/ by default, unless you direct it elsewhere

How a session works

1

Enter thinking mode

Type /think. Claude confirms the mode switch and begins reading your thinking and daily zones.
2

Share what's on your mind

Describe an idea, question, or problem you’re turning over. Claude will probe rather than immediately answer.
3

Explore together

Claude surfaces contradictions, connects threads from your past writing, and suggests angles you haven’t considered.
4

Review output

Any notes Claude produces are saved to thinking/agent-output/ unless you specify a different location.
Pair /think with /emerge for the deepest sessions. Use /think to explore an idea actively, then run /emerge to surface what your vault has been implying all along.
